Our Story

A Native of Carbon County, Utah, Jared Brown, his father, and his grandfather would sneak away to play in the beautiful mountains and lake of Scofield, Utah. The fish were plentiful and the hunting was excellent. Best of all, it was all close to home.

Forty years later, Jared purchased land on the lake’s west side and developed it with his son, Matt into exclusive recreational lots.

A Brief History of Scofield

Although presently the town of Scofield is home to only 27 residents, in 1900 this coalmining town was once a thriving community of 2,000 people producing 75 percent of the state’s coal. In 1875, Martian P. Crandall and two partners organized the Pleasant Valley Coal Company and Railway to build a rail line to Provo. After financial troubles, Charles W. Scofield rescued the venture by whom the town of would later be named. After a mine explosion and temporary closure, and with increasing mechanization, the Scofield population diminished although the mine is still active today.

Due to a need for increased irrigation in Castle Valley, Scofield Dam was completed in 1945. Since its construction, Scofield Reservoir has become a favorite recreational resort for many.

Scofield Mountain Estates

Scofield Mountain Estates location is rare — it is uniquely located between both the vast 1.4 million acre Manti-La Sal National Forest and the large pristine mountain lake of Scofield Reservoir.

This master mountain community features large gravel roads, fresh mountain spring water, electricity connections, and phones with available Gigabit Internet—making it an excellent year-round resort. Lots have also been tested for septic systems, and most heat their cabin with propane.

An Appreciating Asset

As recently stated in the Wall Street Journal, “While all real estate is susceptible to price declines, unique properties, such as those on a lake, tend to appreciate over time at a faster rate than traditional residential real estate because you can’t just replicate these kinds of properties in a subdivision.”

Recreation land continues to appreciate as many from California, Las Vegas, and Phoenix, look for resort areas.  Also the Wasatch valley is expected to double in the next ten years.
